MECHANICAL ENGINEER

PURPOSE: To plan, supervise and coordinate all Maintenance activities for GASCO Plant Mechanical equipment, to ensure availability and reliability.

BACKGROUND: The Mechanical Engineer reports to the respective Maintenance Section Head. Main areas of responsibility for this position consist of supporting the preventive, corrective, troubleshooting, shutdown, and major & minor maintenance activities on various types of mechanical static and rotating plant equipment situated in designated plant site areas. Contacts for this position would commonly be engineering and supervisory personnel, supervision of assigned subordinates, HSE and Operations personnel, materials department staff, plus contractor and outside vendor employees. It is a major challenge to continuously ensure reliability and availability of equipment under his assigned area, when consideration is given to the ageing of plant, structures and equipment.



MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To ensure that all the plant and pipelines’ rotating and static equipment are maintained, improved and/or replaced for optimum plant availability to meet the plant integrity requirements.
• To plan and coordinate Mechanical Maintenance activities with other departments and sections.
• To conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and non-scheduled shutdowns and recommend problem resolutions.
• To ensure effective utilization of the Maximo system in managing Maintenance and Breakdown activities.
• To compile/provide input for preparation of division/department Capital, Operating and 5-Year plan budgets, and monitor/control expenditures.
• To ensure that all the required materials, spares, consumables, and tools are of the right quality and quantity, and available on a continuous basis.
• To participate in Risk Assessment exercises and prepare recommendations and guidelines to address the findings.
• To enforce the implementation of GASCO Health, Safety, and Environment Management System (HSE-MS).
• To ensure all the Maintenance activities are carried out in line with the requirements outlined by the GASCO PTW system. ,

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering
• Must have minimum 6 years hands-on experience in Oil & Gas or relevant industry involving Rotating Equipment troubleshooting, overhauling and maintenance of Pumps, Compressors, and Turbines. Must also have experience in Static Equipment maintenance (e.g. vessels/tanks/exchangers, etc.).
• Must have experience in Maintenance Planning, Material & Resource, and budget preparations.
• Since this position will be having direct subordinates and managing a team, the preferred candidate must also have supervisory skills.


INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL ENGINEER

PURPOSE: To plan, lead and direct the maintenance activities of a wide range of Control
Systems in the assigned area, and coordinate these activities with operations and other maintenance sections.

BACKGROUND: The Instrument & Control Engineer reports to the Instrument & Control
Section Head/ concerned Area Maintenance Section Head.
Main areas of responsibility is controlling the preventive, corrective, troubleshooting, shutdown and major and minor maintenance activities, on various types of instrumentation and control systems, which are used for managing process plant, advanced process control, static & rotating equipment and custody transfer measurements in the plant. The main challenges are to establish a more comprehensive back up and software library for disaster recovery, due to the complexity and variety of control systems of the plant, to ensure the smooth integration of Instrument & Control sections, taking into account the diverse types and ages of the equipment and resolve the obsolescence and reliability issues of critical systems.

He is responsible for the control systems and a variety of Field Instrumentation systems. The system monitors and controls Gas Process Plants, Sulphur Units, Compressors, Power Generators, Gas Turbines and Utility Plant.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To coordinate the testing, repairing, calibration and trouble shooting of the Instrumentation Control systems.
• To provide field supervision over the execution of critical maintenance activities of the equipment and ensure that the problems are resolved with minimum down time.
• To comply with Gasco Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE-MS).
• To evaluate the manpower requirement for daily preventive, break down and shutdown maintenance prepare the job schedule.
• To monitor the work order status for obstacles, and to re-schedule the task if required.
• To monitor and control spares inventory in coordination with purchasing division by analyzing the stock level and rate of consumption.
• To ensure optimum utilization of the MAXIMO system for maintaining job history.
• To liaise with Mechanical and Electrical sections and establish a seamless integration between operation and maintenance teams.
• To prepare and review various maintenance performance reports such as Preliminary Failure and Root Cause Analysis Reports.
• To compile/provide input for preparation of division/department Capital and Operating budgets and monitor annual expenditure budgets.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor Degree in Instrumentation Engineering
• 7 Years Experience


ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

PURPOSE: To plan, supervise and coordinate all Maintenance activities for GASCO Plant Electrical equipment, to ensure availability and reliability.

BACKGROUND: The Electrical Engineer reports to the Electrical Section Head/ concerned Area Maintenance Section Head.

The main challenges are to ensure the availability and reliability of electrical system/equipment, in view of equipment age, obsolescence, and diverse range of manufacturers, to improve speed of diagnosis and rectification of power failure situations, so as to reduce downtime and to integrate new facility installations with existing electrical systems, commission and tie-in with the existing electrical network, considering the unknown performance characteristics of the integrated system and equipment.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To plan and carry out the Predictive/Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs like Dissolved gas analysis, Partial Discharge test, etc. for condition monitoring of all electrical equipment thereby ensure improved machine availability and power system reliability.
• To comply with GASCO Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE-MS) and also promote awareness among the staff.
• To conduct Internal Safety audit of the installations in the assigned plants including camps with regards to Electrical equipment and develop action plans for area maintenance engineers to take up corrective measures.
• To review periodic & shutdown work plans and integrate activities with other sections for their execution.
• Responsible for technological up-grading of obsolete equipment, preparation & execution of Plant Change Requests (PCRs) for modification in existing facilities.
• To compile/provide input for preparation of division/department Capital, Operating and 5-Year budgets, and monitor/control expenditure.
• To carry out detailed engineering, prepare scope of work, technical evaluation and execution for Capital, Extra Ordinary Maintenance (EOM) and Major Maintenance (MM) activities.
• To review the existing maintenance practices and support implementation of innovative & modern methodologies for enhanced productivity leading to improvement in MTBF. To ensure optimum utilization of the CMMS (MAXIMO) system for maintaining job history and data quality so as to ensure retrieval of quality information.
• To perform High Voltage switching activities.
• To prepare method statements for critical jobs, verify electrical procedures and instructions, plus scope of work for contract jobs and service work orders.
• To support CD for technical evaluation of bids and inspection of materials on receipt.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
• Must have minimum 6 years hands-on experience in Oil & Gas or relevant industry involving Electrical distribution & protection systems to include participation in PM maintenance activities.
• Must have experience in Maintenance Planning, Material & Resource, and budget preparations.
• Since this position will be having direct subordinates and managing a team, the preferred candidate must also have supervisory skills.


MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

PURPOSE: To perform preventive, breakdown and shutdown mechanical maintenance activities of static and rotating equipment.

BACKGROUND: The Mechanical Technician reports to the Mechanical Supervisor.
His main areas of responsibility involve the maintenance of major rotating equipment such as Gas Turbines, gas compressors, turbo expanders, blowers, diesel prime movers, pumps, valves and fin fan coolers.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To perform and participate in the preventive, corrective and troubleshooting mechanical maintenance activities of the plant equipment, Gas Turbines, Compressors and Pumps.
• To attend Toolbox meetings to establish scope of work activities such as safety requirements permits to work, special tools and materials.
• To operate, repair and perform functional testing of tackle and lifting equipment, to the recognized standards.
• To comply with all company Health, Safety and Environment as well as Work Permit, policies and procedures.
• To troubleshoot, identify and isolate faulty components, on Rotating, Gas Turbine and Compressor equipment, using P&IDs, manufacturers’ manuals, drawings and diagrams.
• To identify spare parts required for maintenance work, from manufacturers’ drawings and spare parts lists.
• To perform shutdown maintenance repair and overhaul on all rotating and static equipment, including Gas Turbines, Compressors & Pumps.
• To participate in condition monitoring checks on machinery, and notify any malfunctions or defects to the immediate supervisor.
• To be a member of the Engineering Emergency & Fire Backup 24 hour roster team, for performing ship connection & disconnection and safety support duties.
• To observe operation of all equipment during routine activities for abnormalities, and report any defects to relevant Supervisor.

Having hands-on exposure on the following:

• Preventive and/or corrective maintenance of rotating & static equipments (e.g. multi-stage pumps, compressors, gas/steam turbines, blowers, all types of bearings & valves, mechanical seals assemby/disassembly, etc).
• Must know usage of all measuring tools & knowledge of clearances
• Alignment Techniques (must specify what techniques you actually did/actual hands-on exposure)
• Must have knowledge & exposure in Permit to Work (PTW) systems
• Familiar with HAZOP/HAZID, H2S and best Safety practices
• Ability to fully read & interpret P&ID, Process Flow and other engineering drawings

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma in Mechanical or equivalent Tech. Related
• 4 Years Experience in the same field


INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN

PURPOSE: To perform preventive, corrective and troubleshooting maintenance, and testing of all Plant Instrument Process Monitoring, Control Protective equipment.

BACKGROUND: Instrument Technician reports to the Instrument & Control Engineer.
Responsibilities include working with Digital Governor Controls, PLC systems, Microprocessor controls and various conventional pneumatic & electronic Instruments, all of which require the ability to read & understanding engineering drawings such as P & IDs, loop drawing, ladder logic and block & functional diagrams.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To perform preventive, corrective and diagnostic maintenance on the process control systems and control loops.
• To remove, dismantle, overhaul/repair and install electric, pneumatic, electronic or hydraulic control system such as control valves and actuators, recorders, measuring and recording instruments in the field or in the workshop.
• To perform preventive and emergency maintenance on all equipment on site, as well as during machine scheduled or unscheduled shutdowns.
• To perform modification of control circuits and/or control loops as per the plant change requests and update all related plant drawings to reflect the actual changes.
• To assist other sections such as electrical, mechanical and workshop in the repair and troubleshooting of their instrument and electronic related systems and test equipment.
• To perform upgrade and retrofitting of new control instruments to the existing panels in the field and main control room.
• To comply with all company Health, Safety and Environment as well as Work Permit, policies and procedures.
• To input data into the MAXIMO maintenance system, such as work order activities, materials and spares, failure reports and manpower statistics.
• To perform regular calibration and maintenance of all safety, fire and gas equipment such as gas monitors, H2S monitors, smoke detectors and heat detectors to conform to #6.
• To troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and test various types of process control instruments and relay logic, which include pneumatic, electrical and electronic instruments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• HCT D./ATI/ Equivalent in Tech. or Related
• 4 Years Experience in the same field


ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

BACKGROUND: The Electrical Technician reports to the Electrical Supervisor/Senior Technician. He receives work assignments, briefing and guidance from senior section and engineering personnel, and plans and arranges the manpower and material assigned for the job and prepares these for the day’s activities. He receives the PTW from the senior section and engineering personnel and executes the job in a safe and effective manner. He ensures that the High and Low Voltage equipment released, is safe for normal operation and attends/requests toolbox meetings wherever essential to ensure safe execution of a job.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To carry out preventive maintenance activities based on Maximo work orders, and carry out skilled maintenance, repair and testing of electrical equipment.
• To participate in the assigned plant shutdown activities and ensure timely completion of job activities.
• To isolate and energize LV and HV motors and accept electrical permit to work.
• To comply with all company Health, Safety and Environment as well as Work Permit, policies and procedures.
• To provide work direction and instruction to the contractor craftsman.
• To verify completed maintenance activities and ensure that the job is performed as per requirement and complete the maintenance activity sheet.
• To collect technical data from the field if requested by senior technician/area engineer.
• To provide On Job Training to meet Competency Based Training programs for UAE Nationalization.
• To provide input for the preparation of Method statements and Initiate Near miss reports.
• To identify areas for improvement in the activities performed and assist the senior section personnel to carry out modifications and improvements to the system.
• To carryout visual inspection and be vigilant to identify any developing problem in the area assigned, and report any problems to relevant supervisor.
• To participate in Emergency Response duties as a team member.

MAIN CHALLENGES:

• To ensure the integrity and reliability of electrical system/equipment, in view of equipment age and obsolescence.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma – Technical Related
• 4 Years Experience


OPERATOR

PURPOSE: To operate and monitor process plant and facilities in the assigned area as per operating procedures and GASCO – HSE standards.

BACKGROUND: The Operator reports to the Shift Controller.
The Operator is responsible for the entire field operations of all equipment in his assigned area, and types of equipment generally consist of all or some of the following items: Pumps, compressors, turbines, storage tanks, separators, furnaces, pipelines, columns/vessels, control valves, block valves, loading arms and jetty equipment. He must also respond immediately to plant process upsets/emergencies and safety emergencies, which can include gas leaks and fires etc. He is normally the first person to observe and react to any field equipment abnormalities.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To communicate and follow instructions of the Shift Controller to carry out duties efficiently and safely.
• To check process parameters and coordinate with the Senior Operator to correct any deviations.
• To carryout routine checks on equipment for abnormalities and inform Superior for prompt action.
• To prepare the plant / equipments for maintenance ensuring adherence to standards.
• To sign work permits, follow on-going jobs and monitor Contractors activities ensuring adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
• To operate outside machinery and related equipment safely and efficiently as per Company standards and instructions.
• To carry out duties as Auxiliary fireman or Site Safety Officer as and when required during emergencies, as per the Facility Response Plan.
• To follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• To receive chemicals, maintain the stock/consumption register and prepare chemical batches required for the process ensuring adherence to procedures.
• To ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
• To prepare various key Performance Indicator commitment checklists for management perusal.

• Gas Sweetening – Sweetening Units – merox process, sulfrex process, Molecular Sieve-Mol sieves

• Dehydration – Dehydration Unit – TEG, Glycol or PSA
• Nitrogen Rejection – Cryogenic, Absorption process
• Acid Gas Removal – Amine treating, Benfield process, PSA, Sulfinol process, etc.
• NGL Recovery Units
• Sulphur Recovery Units
• H2S Removal Units
• Gas Inlet facilities – slug catcher, inlet separator, condensate stripper; Fired heaters; heat exchangers; blowers; pumps; turbines & compressors, turbo expanders
• Must have knowledge & exposure in Permit to Work (PTW) systems
• Familiar with HAZOP/HAZID, H2S and best Process Safety practices
• Basic ability to read & interpret P&ID, Process Flow and other engineering drawings

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Secondary / ATI in Tech. or Related
• 5 Years Experience in the same field
